Employee amputates thumb on unguarded saw

At about 12:45 p.m. on May 17, 1993, Employee #1 was injured while cutting a panel of wood on an unguarded table saw. He was pushing the wood through the saw when his left thumb was struck by the blade, which amputated a 1/2 inch off the end of his thumb.
