Employee #1 paralyzed in fall from scaffold

Employee #1 was working approximately twenty-three feet above ground on an unguarded portion of a scaffold, removing material and equipment. Employee #1 attempted to throw a metal mortar board over side of the scaffold. The mortar board caught on the sleeve of the sweater that Employee #1 was wearing. Causing him to lose his balance and fall over the side of the unguarded scaffold to the ground, resulting in employee receiving paralyzing injuries from waist down.
