Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170723787
Event: 10/05/1993
Employee slightly injured when run over by truck

Employee #1 had crawled under the lube truck at a construction site to adjust the truck's front brakes. Another employee at the site finished lubricating some equipment and got in the truck to move it to some other equipment. When the second employee got in the truck, he put it in gear and drove forward. He heard Employee #1 yell, and stopped the truck. Employee #1 had crawled under the truck while it was running. The truck is often left running to operate the power take-off so that other equipment on the truck can be used. The truck keys were in the ignition; the truck engine was running. Employee #1 is not the driver of this truck. He did not tell the other employee that he was going under the truck. Employee #1 received only bruises and a contusion from this incident.
