Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170379754
Event: 12/17/1994
Employee's leg fractured by flying aircraft wheel chock

At about 11:45 p.m. on December 17, 1994, Employee #1 was a member of a three-person ground crew that was guiding an aircraft to its parking spot at an airport gate. It was dark and raining at the time, and the captain was having trouble aligning with the lead-in line. Wheel chocks were already in position near the lead-in, but the aircraft nose wheel inadvertently ran over one of the chocks, causing it to shoot off to one side. It struck Employee #1 and broke her leg.
