Event: 06/22/1994
EMPLOYEE STRUCK BY FALLING LOG DIES

At about 11:00 a.m. on June 22, 1994,, a crew of three workers were felling and trimming cypress trees on a vacant lot. One of the trees, after felling and trimming, comprised two separate logs joined near the root with a deep natural split weakening the junction. The two logs were one above the other when the upper log rolled off the lower one and struck Employee #1 pinning him to the ground. Employee #1 was hospitalized and later died from those injuries.
