Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170727911
Event: 01/12/1994
Employee fractures leg in fall as ladder shifts

Employee #1, a carpenter engaged in commercial wood frame and wall construction, was working alone inspecting a wall for straightness. While he was descending a 20 ft aluminum extension ladder, the ladder shifted to his left and he fell 8 ft from the ladder to the concrete interior floor. If the ladder had been tied off or blocked, the shifting would have been prevented. Employee #1 sustained a fracture of the upper leg and was hospitalized.
