Event: 03/21/1995
Machinist injured when caught in milling machine

At approximately 9:05 p.m. on March 21, 1995, Employee #1 was performing his regularly assigned job as a machinist/CNC mill operator. His right arm became caught by the turning chuck of the milling machine and he was pulled into the turning spindle and work piece. He suffered serious lacerations of the right arm and leg and multiple contusions and abrasions. Employee #1 told the employer that he was using compressed air to blow chips from the work piece when the hose became caught on the turning chuck, pulling him into the running machine. Employee #1 was transported to Washington Township Hospital, Fremont, CA, where he was examined, treated for lacerations, and hospitalized overnight for observation. He was released the following day to convalesce at home.
