Employee injured when pulled from roof by falling panel

On June 30, 2000, Employee #1, of Roofing Structures, was securing roof panels that were being lifted up to him by a Gradall material handler. He started landing and securing the panels at the parapet wall, to which he was tied-off. As Employee #1 moved outward from the wall, he successively tied off to the last secured panel. The Gradall was moving in and out of the area to retrieve the panels from the ground when the operator struck a column. The collision caused the column to spread open and the panel fell through, pulling Employee #1 with it. He fell approximately 25 ft, landing on a concrete floor. Employee #1 sustained injuries that required hospitalization.
