Employee Is Injured When Struck by Falling Pallets

On July 26, 2005, Employee #3 was handling packed cartons near a field pallet (harvest unit) trailer. As the load on the unit was moved forward for transfer to another trailer, two pallets tipped and the upper cartons fell, striking Employee #1 and #2 on the ground. Employee #2 was treated at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital and was released. Employee #1 suffered a collapsed lung and was airlifted to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he was hospitalized.
