Employee amputated finger and finger tip on table saw

At approximately 11:00 a.m. on May 30, 2000, a temporary employee was injured while working at Visual Merchandise Systems in San Jose, California. The employee was employed by Interim Personnel. The employee was working on a table saw when he amputated his left middle finger and the tip of his left ring finger. The accident scene was inspected and the table saw involved in the accident was observed. The injured employee was not available for an interview. The table saw was being operated without a guard installed and it was modified with rollers. Citations were issued for not having a guard on the table saw and the table saw being modified.
