Employees buried in trench cave-in

Employees #1 and #2 were connecting plastic drain pipe in a 6 foot trench when the west wall collapsed on them. Employee #1 was buried above the waist. Employee #2's lower extremities were covered; he sustained a broken pelvis and internal injuries. He was dug out by other employees on site. Employee #1 was evacuated by the rescue squad and transported to the hospital by helicopter.
