BURN - ELECTRICAL FAULT IN SWITCHGEAR CABINET

An electrician was pulling cable into and working on a new 4160-volt switchgear cabinet. He was working with most of his upper body inside the Westinghouse Ampgard metal cabinet. The cabinet was energized, but the employee was not using electrical protective equipment. The electrician apparently caused an electrical fault within the cabinet. The ensuing electric arc badly burned his face, head, neck, arms, and hands.
