Employee Amputates Fingertips While Using Grinding Machine

Employee #1 was operating a Blanchard grinding machine. As the magnetic table was sliding in under the grinding area, Employee #1 noticed a bad part and reached to remove it. Employee #1's gloved hand got caught between the part and the grinding stone. Employee #1 jerked his arm back causing the sharp part to cut the tips off the two middle fingers of his left hand. The magnetic table was not yet activated, and the grinding head was not in operation. Employee #1 did not realize the part was so close to the grinding head, when he reached for it. Employee #1 was treated but was not hospitalized.
