Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170154215
Event: 12/14/1990
FALL - SLIPPED ON FLOOR

AN EMPLOYEE OF AN ELECTRIC UTILITY HAD BEEN ATTENDING A CARDIO-PULMONARY RESUSCITATION CLASS AND WAS RETURNING FROM LUNCH. ON HIS WAY, HE WENT TO HIS REGULAR WORK LOCATION TO GO TO THE RESTROOM. HE WAS WEARING STREET SHOES RATHER THAN HIS NORMAL WORK SHOES. WHEN THE EMPLOYEE ENTERED THE BUILDING, HIS FEET SLIPPED AND SOMETHING CAUGHT HIS LEFT HAND, PREVENTING HIM FROM CATCHING HIMSELF. THE EMPLOYEE FELL AND WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS. WHEN THE EMPLOYEE REGAINED CONSCIOUSNESS, HIS SUPERVISOR TOOK HIM TO THE COMPANY DOCTOR. HE WAS THEN TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL, WHERE HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A CONCUSSION AND A CERVICAL STRAIN. HE WAS RELEASED SOME DAYS LATER AND RETURNED TO WORK 46 DAYS AFTER THAT.
