Investigation Summary
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on October 18, 1990, Employee #1, of Decorative Specialties, was using a wood shaper when the piece of wood he was working on partially broke. It kicked back and nipped his left little finger between the stock and the stock support. He was treated at Foothill Medical Clinic and released after a several hours. Employee #1 later stated through an interpreter (his shop supervisor) that the saw guard antikickback device was in place at the time of the accident. Employee #1 had approximately 3 years of experience on the table saw.
