Employee's fingers mangled in cooking machine

At approximately 3:00 p.m. on April 13, 1992, Employee #1, a cheese processor for Masson Cheese Corp., was cleaning the open gears of a cooking machine without turning off the machine. His right hand was caught in the running gears and three of his fingers were mangled. Employee #1 was taken to White Memorial Hospital and hospitalized for five days. He is now being treated as an outpatient. A citation was issued to the employer ordering the company to install lockout devices. The employer was also strongly advised to train the employees on safety precautions.
