Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170586473
Event: 07/13/1993
Employee fractures knee when thrown from pallet jack

Employee #1 was driving a pallet jack, a Crown Rider Pallet Truck, series PE, along an aisleway. The unit has a small ledge at one end for the operator to stand on while operating the controls. At one corner of this aisleway, where it turns 90 degrees, palletized materials had been stacked to one side and a table stuck out into the aisleway from the other side. Employee #1 attempted to drive between the table and the palletized materials. The pallet jack struck the table, throwing him to the ground. Employee #1 fractured his knee.
