Employee injured running from falling load

Employee #1, of Sasco Electric, was supervising the unloading of switchgear from a truck by a forklift. Employee #1 was standing at the side of the load, which was on the forks at ground level. The Square D electrical cabinets measured 10 ft by 6 ft and weighed approximately 1,000 lb. The load began to topple and Employee #1 ran out of the path of the falling load. Employee #1 fell over other electrical equipment (conduit) stored nearby and fractured his left lower leg. Employee #1 required hospitalization and subsequently was released to restricted duties. Because the load was not secured, the employer was cited for violations of T8CCR 3664(a)(27), serious.
