Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was assembling a press strainer that was resting on a metal framed table. The table top was not installed and the strainer was resting on the portion of the frame that normally supports the wood table top. While Employee #1 was tightening components of the strainer, the unit shifted and the strainer pinned Employee #1's left little finger against the table frame. The finger was struck hard enough to amputate it at the second knuckle.
