Employee's hand severely crushed in feed rollers

At about 10:00 a.m. on March 12, 1992, Employee #1, of Sacramento Bag Manufacturing Co., Sacramento, CA, was operating a bag material cutting and printing machine. Employee #1 was adjusting the machine to change the length of material being cut with the machine controls off and the jog control operational. While on a work platform on the side of the machine near the top, he was leaning in the top of the machine to make an adjustment with his right hand, and his left hand was holding onto the control box. Employee #1 pushed the jog button, running the feed rolls of the printer, which drew his hand into the rolls. Most of the bones in his hand were crushed. Employee #1 was taken to UC Medical Center in Sacramento by ambulance.
