Employee's foot fractured by falling box of glass

Employee #1 worked for a manufacturer of flat glass, windows, and similar products. To minimize breakage, the glass was shipped standing on edge in a carton. As a forklift was turning toward a rack to pick up a carton of glass, the operator misjudged the position of one fork and the end of it struck the rack. The carton of glass tipped over onto Employee #1's foot and fractured it. The driver was a trained forklift operator, and Employee #1 termed this a freak accident. The employer has moved the rack storage area away from employees and painted a safety zone.
