Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170161079
Event: 12/18/1990
Employee injured in jump from overturning ladder

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on December 18, 1990, Employee #1, a construction worker, was climbing a rolling ladder to repair a damaged lifting ring. The ladder rolled off the 16 in. work slab on which it rested, and began to tilt. Employee #1 jumped 6 to 8 ft from the ladder just before it overturned completely, crushing his right heel and fracturing his ankle. His supervisor came to his aid and, with the help of coworkers, loaded Employee #1 into a company pickup truck and took him to a medical care unit in a nearby city.
