Investigation Summary
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on September 3, 1993, Employee #1 was seriously injured when his gloved right hand was cut and fractured by a radial arm saw blade. Employee #1 was cutting wood into 2-inch by 4-inch and 1-inch by 6-inch strips with a radial arm saw for use in making new wooden pallets. Employee #1 had been wearing gloves to pick up scrap lumber and forgot to remove them before resuming operation of the saw. The saw blade caught the glove of his right hand and cut and fractured the hand. He was hospitalized as a result of his injuries.
