Employee injured when struck by falling truss

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on May 9, 1994, Employee #1 was installing a truss on a single story home in Tehachapi. He and his foreman had lifted a truss onto a wall and were preparing to walk along the wall (Employee #1 on one side and the foreman on the other) to place it where it was to be installed. There was a mixup in the signals that resulted in the foreman moving forward before Employee #1 was ready. The sudden movement caused the truss to shift, causing Employee #1 to lose his balance and fall to the ground. The truss that he was handling fell on his chest and fractured it. Neither employee was wearing approved safety belts or lanyards.
