Employee's toe amputated after injury

On or about August 1, 1991, Employee #1 was loading broken wooden and bunk timbers into a metal hopper when he dropped a 6 in. by 8 in. bunk timber on his right big toe. He did not report his injury immediately and his toe turned gangrenous and was amputated on August 9, 1991. Employee #1 was diabetic and this may have aggravated his condition.
