Employee's hand injured in rotary drum mixer

On April 18, 1991, Employee #1, a lead person for Patio Industries, was using an air hose to clean around a rotary drum mixer. He turned and either tripped on the air hose or slipped on cement dust on the floor. As he fell, his right hand entered the unguarded pinch point created by the interface of the rotary drum mixer and trunnion wheel. Employee #1 was admitted to Kaweah Delta District Hospital for treatment. The guard had been missing from the left side of the machine for some months.
