Employee burned in truck fire

At the end of the day, Employee #1 and two coworkers were driving back to the office when the grass clippings, small branches, leaves, and other trash in the bed of their truck caught on fire. A witness alerted them to the rising flames, and the truck pulled over to the side of the road just as the brakes failed. Employee #1, who was sitting between the driver and the other coworker, was not able to escape before his shirt caught on fire. He ran toward an irrigation ditch approximately 100 ft away and jumped into the water. Employee #1 sustained serious burns that required hospitalization.
