Employee's leg fractured when pinned by van against bench

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on March 30, 1990, Employee #1 was inside the maintenance shop engaged in mechanical work on the fuel pump of an armored 5-speed GMC van. The vehicle was thought to be in neutral and the parking brake set. Employee #1 asked the office secretary to get into the vehicle and turn the key to the right to check the ignition. When she turned the key, the vehicle lunged forward and pinned Employee #1 against a workbench. He suffered a fracture of his lower right leg and was hospitalized.
