Employee's finger injured in jump from storage rack

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on August 20, 1990, Employee #1 was in the back room of the store looking for some merchandise. To look inside a box at the second level of a metal storage rack, he stepped up on the edge of the first level, holding the corner angle bar with his left hand. As he jumped down, his ring became caught on the top of the upright. The skin on his finger was torn off, and subsequently the first digit had to be amputated.
