Employee's finger severed when caught between wheel and arm

Employee #1 is a level 4 mechanic with 8 years experience. He was loading the alamite grease system on the C-2 machine when a grease line broke and grease shot onto the stepping wheel. While attempting to wipe the grease off the vac stepping wheel, Employee #1 reached inside the machine without locking it out. The latch arm indexed upward and caught his finger between the wheel and the arm at the pinch point, severing his right ring finger at the first knuckle.
