Event: 10/18/1993
Employee injured in fall from elevated work platform

On October 18, 1993, at about 9:00 p.m., Employee #1 was doing maintenance work on the tail engine of a Lockheed L-1011 aircraft. To gain access to the engine parts, he elevated himself on a work platform to the level of a door on the underside of the aircraft's fuselage. After completing the work, he exited the aircraft and stood on the elevated platform at the same time a nearby vehicle was being driven away by a coworker. The rear bumper of the vehicle caught part of the work platform and rocked it violently, throwing Employee #1 to the ground. His injuries required hospitalization.
