Two employees burned in explosion and fire

Employees #1 and #2, of Maaco, Inc., were using a gas operated target saw to add an outlet onto what they thought was a gas line. Both the air and gas lines were 1 1/4 in. cast iron and were being fed from above a stage floor at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, CA. The lines were below the stage in a 4 ft crawl space, about 16 ft from their identified outlet above the stage. The line they were working on was, in fact, an air line. The cutting created sparks, which triggered an explosion and fire. Employees #1 and #2 were burned on their faces and hands and required hospitalization.
