Motorcycle officer dies after traffic accident

At 12:30 p.m. on March 18, 1993, Employee #1, a Washington State Patrol motorcycle officer involved in routine traffic duties on I-90, was attempting to overtake and stop a speeding violator. He lost control of his motorcycle (a 1989 Kawasaki KZ1000) and hit a lightpost with his head and torso. He lost consciousness at the time of the accident, did not regain it, and died on March 22, 1993.
