Employee Dies, Others Injured When Steel Structure Collapses

At approximately 4:15 p.m. on July 3, 1990, Employees #1 through #4, iron workers, were approximately 40 ft above the ground, erecting an open web steel-joist gymnasium, when the structure collapsed. All four employees sustained multiple fractures; Employee #1 was killed. There were no temporary guys or braces used to stabilize the structures.
