Explosion occurs at coating press

On August 30, 1999, the employer was using a Rotogravure coating press to coat plastic sheeting. The coating, which contained toluene and MEK, was flammable, and an explosion occurred on the input side of the drying tunnel. The most likely cause was static electricity, but flammables were also being mishandled at the site. No information on employee injuries was provided.
