EMPLOYEE KILLED WHEN HE FELL THROUGH ROOF UNDER CONSTRUCTION

THE EMPLOYEES WERE WALKING ON THE PURLINS ATTACHED TO THE WOODEN TRUSSES OF A 24 FOOT HIGH BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION. THEY WERE CARRYING METAL PANELS, 39 FEET LONG AND 2 FEET WIDE, TO THE AREA OF THE ROOF WHERE A PAPER VAPOR BARRIER HAD BEEN INSTALLED. THE EMPLOYEE STEPPED OR WALKED ON THE PAPER VAPOR BARRIER AND FEEL THROUGH IT. HIS CHEST STRUCK AGAINST THE PURLIN AS HE FELL, KNOCKING HIM BACKWARDS SO THAT HE LANDED, 24 FEET BELOW, ON HIS BACK. HE WAS KILLED.
