Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 14372288
Event: 03/05/1993
Employee's leg broken between seat and steering column

Employee #1 was backing a forklift from a storage rack area when a piece of metal on the left rear portion of the forklift struck a stanchion of a bin. The seat and the battery cover broke, twisting the driver's seat and pushing one of Employee #1's legs into the steering column and the other leg down on the gas. This in turn forced the forklift more to the rear, putting additional stress on his leg and breaking it.
