Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 14236731
Event: 08/05/1987
Employee injured when struck by roll of roofing paper

Employee #1 was working at a construction site. A supply truck entered the site to unload roofing supplies onto the roof of a building. The truck bed had been extended approximately 16 feet into the air in preparation for unloading the supplies. The workers unloading the truck had taken their places: one was on the roof receiving material while one stood on the truck bed handing off the supplies. Employee #1 was on the ground below the truck. While the truck was being unloaded, a roll of roofing paper fell off the truck bed, striking him in the back. Employee #1 sustained bruises and contusions to his back, for which he has treated and released from the hospital.
