WELDER BECAME ILL; DIED OF HEART ATTACK SOON AFTER

EMPLOYEE #1 WORKED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS BEFORE BECOMING ILL. HE WAS EMPLOYED AS AN ACETYLENE TORCH CUTTER (VICTOR TORCH 315-C). HE CUT STAINLESS STEEL, BLACK IRON AND GALVANIZED METAL TABLES AND PIPES, AFTER WHICH THE CUT PIECES WERE REMOVED FROM THE WORK AREA. EMPLOYEE #1 BEGAN TO COMPLAIN OF HEADACHES AND DIZZINESS. TWO DAYS AFTER HE STOPPED CUTTING, HE DEVELOPED CHEST PAINS AS WELL AS THE HEADACHES. HE WENT TO THE COMPANY DOCTOR, WHO HAD HIM ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL. HIS CONDITION STEADILY WORSENED UNTIL, 2 DAYS LATER, HE DIED. THE DEATH CERTIFICATE STATED THAT HE DIED OF A MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION.
