Employee falls into coma and dies after struck by box

At approximately 8:15 a.m. on July 25, 1994, Employee #1 was loading a delivery truck with packages when a box fell from the top shelf of the truck. The box struck Employee #1 on the left side of his face and glasses. He received a laceration over his nose and first aid was given. Employee #1 returned to work the next day and complained that he couldn't see with his broken glasses. He was off work for two days when he was taken to the local hospital for numbness to the left side. He remained in the local hospital until August 7, 1994, when he was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital. Employee #1 went into a coma and was declared dead on August 8, 1994.
