Employee killed in fall into drained pool

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on September 28, 1988, the foreman assigned Employee #1 to sweep out the bottom of a drained swimming pool before a final inspection. A coworker had his back to the pool, cleaning the thresholds leading to the pool lockers. He heard a noise, turned, and glimpsed Employee #1 falling into the pool. Employee #1 struck his right temple and the right side of his face against the bottom of the pool. He lost consciousness during the ambulance ride to the hospital and remained unconscious until his death 7 days later.
