CONSTRUCTION WORKER KILLED IN FALL FROM SCAFFOLD

AT 1:15 PM ON DECEMBER 1, 1987, EMPLOYEE #1 WAS OVERHAND LAYING CINDER BLOCKS ON A 36 FOOT, 5 INCH HIGH WALL. HE WAS STANDING ON A CANTALEVER OUTRIGGER SCAFFOLD. FOR SOME REASON HE FELL OVER THE 3 FEET, 11 INCH WALL HE WAS ERECTING, THEN FELL THE ADDITIONAL 36 FEET, 5 INCHES TO THE GROUND. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS USING TROWELS AND MORTAR DURING THE INSTALLATION OF THE BLOCKS. HE WAS FOUND DEAD WITH A SKULL FRACTURE. BEFORE THE FALL, EMPLOYEE #1 WAS SEEN SHIVERING. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE YET OF A POSSIBLE HEART ATTACK BEFORE HIS FALL.
