Event: 05/31/2012
Employee falls from tree while tree trimming and is killed

at 6:15 p.m. on May 31, 2012, an tree service employee was fatality injured while performing electrical line tree clearing operations. The employee was a member of a two man work crew. The employee had climbed a tree and was in the process of removing a limb from the tree with a chainsaw when he accidentally cut his climbing rope with the chainsaw and fell approximately 45 feet to the ground below. The employee was wearing employer provided tree climbing safety harness, tree climbing rope, and gaffs; the employer had provided regular safety training to the employee. The employee was working alone in the tree at the time of the incident. The employee died as a result of the injuries sustained in the fall.
