Investigation Summary
At approximately 9:30 a.m. on February 22, 1985, Employee #1 was cutting the points on the end of fence boards. He used a picket pointer, which consisted of four knives. Each knife was six inches long. As the knife cutting head swung outward, a knot or something became stuck causing the post to jump. This caused Employee #1 to slip his hand into the cutting knives. As a result, his right hand was severed.
