Worker Sustains Concussion in Fall Through Floor Opening

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on April 9, 2014, Employee #1, employed by Bay Mountain Air Inc., was working at a multifamily residential building that was being renovated. He was on the second floor and installing a metal grease trap duct. Employee #1 fell through a floor opening, hit a ladder, and then fell to the concrete floor below, a fall height of approximately 16 feet. Emergency services were called, and Employee #1 was transported to the hospital, admitted, and treated for a concussion. This event was investigated by Cal/OSHA. The investigation determined that the employer was a plumbing, heating, and air conditioning contractor.
