Employee Fractures Hip During Fall from Platform

On September 5, 2013, Employee #1 attempted to reach a scaffold brace that was inadvertently left on top of a generator casing approximately 101 inches off the ground and stepped onto a flat portion of the casing 34 inches off the ground in order to reach the brace. At some point, he must have stepped backward or fell from the platform, landing on the concrete floor below. Employee #1 sustained fractures to his hip and pelvic regions and was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a larger regional hospital for surgical repair. He remained hospitalized for several days.
