Investigation Summary
On August 5, 2013, Employee #1 was picking pears on a 12-foot orchard ladder from a 16-foot pear tree. While elevated at 7-feet 6 inches, a branch shifted and hit the ladder. Employee #1 lost his balance and fell from the ladder to the ground below. The ladder remained in place. Employee #1 was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with broken ribs and was hospitalized for 30 hours.
