Punch Press Operator Sustains Amputation When Press Actuates

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on March 6, 2013, an employee was working as a punch press operator for a manufacturer of electronic components. He was operating a Johnson full revolution power punch press running blank-out copper cans. The employee was using pullout devices. When the press started a cycle, the top die pinned the employee's finger. He sustained a partial amputation of the ring finger on his left hand.
