Employee Is Crushed and Killed Between Vehicles

On August 14, 2013, Employee #1 was servicing a truck at a raw almond processing facility. He had completed a pre-operation vehicle check on a 10-wheeled, bob-tailed dump truck. The engine was left running as he tilted the cab forward to access the engine compartment. While on the passenger's side, he lowered the cab down and the truck began to travel forward under its own power. He went around the truck's front to the driver's side door as the truck traveled. The truck ran into a self-dumping grape gondola trailer parked approximately 20 feet away, and he was caught between the two vehicles, sustaining crushing injuries that killed him.
