Employee Gets Ring Finger Amputation

At 2:45 a.m., on December 8, 2012, Employee #1 of Gap Inc., sustained a finger injury while in the course of his normal work duties as a Loss Prevention Agent. Employee #1 was working on the nightshift and was assigned to remove a surveillance camera from the Unit Pick area of the warehouse. To accomplish the task, Employee #1 used a blue rolling industrial strength Type 1 ladder with a built in cart. As Employee #1 stood on the table section of the cart, the ladder slid away from him and he fell to the concrete floor. His right hand ring finger was degloved when his ring got caught on a section of the storage rack bracket. Surgery required a partial amputation of the finger.
